Guidelines on continence care for people with dementia living at home
In 2014, Alzheimer Europe and SCA* worked together with a group of experts and produced a detailed report on “improving continence care for people with dementia living at home” which can be downloaded at http://www.alzheimer-europe.org/Publications/Alzheimer-Europe-Reports. It is targeted at health and social care professionals, policy makers and people with dementia and carers. However, as the report is very detailed, some people with dementia might prefer a shorter version summarising the main points of direct relevance to them. You are currently reading the short version.
Living with dementia and continence problems at home is different from living with the same problems in a residential care setting. The following information focuses on the experience of dementia and continence problems amongst people with dementia at home.
* SCA is one of the world's largest companies in personal care products, the world's third-largest supplier of tissue and one of Europe's most profitable producers of forest products.
