European Dementia Ethics Network
The topics to be addressed by the working groups of the Dementia Ethics Network are decided by the board of Alzheimer Europe, which includes the Chair of the European Working Group of People with Dementia, and included in Alzheimer Europe's strategic plan which is approved at Alzheimer Europe's Annual General Meeting by its member associations.
Alzheimer Europe establishes a new working group every year by inviting relevant experts to take part in the project. Experts are usually asked to assist with the literature review, in drafting the report and in developing guidelines or a position. A consensus based approach is adopted whereby all reports and guidelines reflect the views of the members of the working groups. On completion, each report is presented to and formally adopted by the board of Alzheimer Europe.
Each project runs for one year and results in a printed publication, which is also made freely available on Alzheimer Europe's website. These reports are distributed to all Alzheimer Europe's members associations who are welcome to translate them into other languages (subject to approval by the board of Alzheimer Europe).
